ACA Registered Counsellor | Master of Counselling

Sally is an ACA Registered Counsellor and mental health author whose work combines contemporary counselling practice with more than a decade of experience in clinical research.

Alongside providing counselling through The Naum Centre, Sally develops evidence-informed mental health education resources for individuals and organisations.

Sally writes educational articles for The Naum Centre’s Mental Health Insights blog and develops evidence-informed psychoeducational resources for individuals and organisations.

Professional Background

Before entering counselling practice, Sally spent more than a decade working in clinical research across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Her career included roles as Mental Health Research Coordinator, Senior Clinical Research Associate and Clinical Team Manager, managing complex multi-site clinical trials across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region. During this time she worked alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, physicians, research nurses and international pharmaceutical sponsors while overseeing research conducted under internationally recognised Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) standards.

Her research experience included mental health, neuroscience and neurological research, alongside studies across a broad range of medical specialties including ophthalmology, endocrinology, oncology, respiratory medicine and rare diseases. This background developed strong expertise in evaluating scientific evidence, understanding clinical research methodology, and translating complex health information into clear, accessible educational resources.

Following completion of her Master of Counselling, Sally co-established Naum Centre, where she provides counselling while also developing evidence-informed psychoeducational resources and mental health education materials for individuals and organisations.

Research Background

Early in her career, Sally contributed to academic research in psychophysiology and cognitive neuroscience, including a peer-reviewed journal publication and a conference abstract exploring cognitive function, visual processing and healthy ageing.

While her professional focus is now counselling and mental health education, her research background continues to shape the way she evaluates evidence and develops educational content.

Commitment to Evidence-Informed Information

Every article written by Sally is guided by the principles that underpin The Naum Centre's educational content:

  • Evidence-informed rather than opinion-based

  • Grounded in established psychological knowledge and current research

  • Written in clear, accessible language

  • Respectful of the diversity and complexity of individual experiences

  • Focused on practical understanding rather than oversimplification

Articles draw on peer-reviewed research, Australian clinical guidance and recognised professional resources.
