Counselling isn't about having all the answers.
It's about creating the space to ask different questions, understand yourself in new ways, and begin making changes that feel possible.
Our approach is grounded in genuine human connection, thoughtful curiosity, and the belief that meaningful change happens through the therapeutic relationship, not just the information shared within it.
Counselling isn't about telling you something you don't already know. It's about creating the conditions where change becomes possible.
That might mean noticing patterns that have been difficult to see from the inside, trying new ways of responding, building a different relationship with yourself, or simply having a space where you don't have to carry everything on your own.
What a session with us actually looks like
Every person who walks through our door brings a different story, different strengths, and different hopes for what life might look like.
We'll usually spend time understanding what's been happening, exploring the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, identifying what's most important to you, and working together to find practical ways forward.
Some sessions might involve reflection. Others may focus on learning new skills, exploring difficult emotions, improving relationships, or making sense of past experiences.
Throughout the process we'll regularly check in about what's helping and adjust our approach as your needs change.
A Tailored Approach
No single therapeutic approach is right for everyone.
Our counsellors draw on a range of evidence-informed approaches and tailor therapy to your unique needs, preferences and goals.
Rather than following a single model, we work collaboratively to find what is most helpful for you.
-
A compassionate, collaborative approach that places you at the centre of therapy.
By providing empathy, acceptance and a non-judgemental space, person-centred therapy helps you explore your experiences, build self-understanding and discover your own capacity for growth and change.
-
An evidence-informed approach that helps you understand the different "parts" of yourself, including protective patterns, inner critics and wounded experiences.
By approaching these parts with curiosity and compassion, therapy supports greater self-awareness, emotional healing and a stronger sense of inner balance.
-
Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or emotions, ACT helps you develop psychological flexibility.
You'll learn practical skills to respond to life's challenges more effectively while taking meaningful action towards the values and life that matter most to you.
-
A practical, goal-oriented approach that explores the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
CBT helps identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking, and build practical strategies for managing anxiety, depression, stress and everyday challenges.
-
A strengths-based approach that focuses on your existing resources and what is already working.
Rather than dwelling on problems, SFT helps clarify your goals, identify practical next steps and build confidence in creating meaningful, achievable change.
-
Our minds and bodies are deeply connected.
These approaches use body awareness, mindfulness and grounding techniques to help regulate emotions, reduce stress, increase present-moment awareness and strengthen your connection with yourself.
